VFF launches the book “25 Years Journey of Professional Football in Vietnam”

On the afternoon of August 26, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially launched the book "25 Years Journey of Professional Football in Vietnam," marking a proud chapter in the development of the nation’s professional football.

Speaking on behalf of the Standing Committee of VFF and the leadership of VPF Company at the ceremony, Mr. Trần Anh Tú – Vice President of VFF, Chairman of VPF’s Board, and Deputy Head of the Editorial Steering Committee – highlighted:

"It can be stated that since the very first steps in 2000, Vietnamese professional football has seen fundamental changes in management, operation, and development approaches. More importantly, football has inspired a new way of thinking – a development mindset associated with integration, modernization, and sustainability.

This very mindset has transformed Vietnamese football from a nascent stage into a distinctive football culture, closely connected with the community, and steadily strengthening its position on the regional and continental maps. The book "25 Years Journey of Professional Football in Vietnam" presented today not only reflects on the past but also looks forward to the future.

The achievements attained remind us that the path of developing professional football is the right decision, but it also requires steadfastness, innovation, and even greater determination. Our responsibility – those involved in the development of Vietnamese football, directly or indirectly – is to keep striving to nurture ambition, raise the league’s level, improve professional quality and image, and continuously expand international cooperation, so that Vietnamese football can truly advance further.

VFF hopes that this book will become a source of inspiration for current and future generations, so every player, coach, manager, and fan clearly understands their role and mission in this collective journey. Above all, it is to encourage us to continue working together to write new glorious chapters, bringing Vietnamese football closer to the great goals long awaited by fans."

The book "25 Years Journey of Professional Football in Vietnam" was drafted starting from August 2024 and completed by July 2025. It is the outcome of a serious, meticulous effort involving numerous experts, managers, and collaborators. The book outlines the 25-year journey since the birth of professional football in Vietnam (2000), highlighting key milestones and positive transformations in organization, management, training, competition, along with the support of businesses and fans.

Through many difficulties and challenges, Vietnamese professional football has laid the groundwork for major advances by national teams and clubs on the international stage: from two AFF Cup titles, twice reaching the Asian Cup quarterfinals, the first appearance in the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Asia, to a series of remarkable achievements by youth teams.
