Ruben Amorim will lead Manchester United to their Premier League debut at Old Trafford on Sunday against relegation rivals Everton and will be hoping for his first league win. The game was played earlier than normal time, kicking off at 13:30 p.m. local time, half an hour earlier than the usual 14 p.m.
According to British media, this is the Premier League's adjustment according to Liverpool's focus on Manchester City, which was scheduled to kick off at 16 o'clock instead of the original 16:30 at the request of the Merseyside police, so other games are also brought forward accordingly to avoid any conflicting time slots on live TV.
Amorim will be hoping to progress in the race for the top four with a win over Everton, who face one of the favourites, Arsenal, in midweek away to Everton. Amorim has hinted at the possibility of a new Red Devils injury return, with the likes of Lenny Yoro and Harry Maguire all back in training.
Manchester United's official website confirms that Amorim admitted that Antony was substituted due to injury in the 3-2 Europa League win over Bode Shine, starting at right wing-back before being replaced by Amad Diallo in the 60th minute, and that 'Kompasu' will be available for the match against Everton is in doubt.
But even if Mr. 100 million euros is injured, the impact on the team will not be too great. Once the likes of Joro, Harry Maguire and Evans are back at centre-back, Mazraoui, who recently played as a right centre-back, could return to the right wing-back position, and with the €40 million winger Diallo, Antony doesn't seem to matter.
Defender Kobe Mayno is another likely player to feature, with the Reds Academy graduate last making an appearance. He was on the bench in the Europa League but didn't play in the end. Asked if there would be a new return, Amorim replied: "Maybe, we'll have to wait and see. There's another training session, even if you can't get into the starting line-up, some of the players might be on the bench."
Manchester United's two left-backs, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, have returned from injury in the past week. Luke Shaw came off the bench in both of Amorim's games and competed for the first time in nine months; Malacia, on the other hand, started half a game in the Europa League, his first game in 550 days of a season and a half.
Malacia was 'eaten raw' by his opponent during the match and conceded the goal, but Amorim did not blame him. "It's a huge difference in his faith and in everybody's faith." 'I think he's done a good job, he hasn't played for over a year, but he's still so brave on the ball and I'm really happy with him.'
Rivals Everton are also plagued by injuries, with Manchester United Academy graduate James Garner set to defect after suffering a back injury, while Toffee captain Coleman is also on the sidelines. However, another veteran Reds player, Dwight McNeil, has returned from injury and is expected to start against his old club.
Everton sit 15th in the Premier League table and despite being just two points above the relegation zone, they have been a difficult opponent to beat in recent months. Since losing four in a row at the start of the season, Sean Dyche's side have lost just one of their last eight matches, conceding just four goals in that time. However, they share Manchester United's goalscoring difficulties, with 10 goals in 12 games the fewest in the Premier League, so five of them have ended in draws. Against this opponent, United must make the most of every scoring opportunity.
