The future of Nicolas Jackson remains uncertain as many European teams show interest in the Chelsea striker.
Nicolas Jackson's time at Chelsea seems to be coming to an end, with the London club's management reportedly giving the green light for the Senegalese forward to leave. However, the 24-year-old's next destination is still undecided as several European clubs, including some from the Premier League, are closely monitoring the situation.
According to PA sources, Chelsea prefers to sell Jackson outright rather than loan him out. Yet, the only concrete offer so far has come from Bayern Munich, who have proposed a one-season loan deal. Meanwhile, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Napoli are also interested but have not taken any decisive steps yet.
Jackson joined Chelsea in 2023 from Villarreal for £22.5 million. Since then, he has scored 31 goals in 80 appearances. Although regarded as having great potential, his performance has been inconsistent. Last season, he went nearly five months without scoring in the Premier League—from December to May—leading to a significant loss of confidence from the coaching staff.
Chelsea initially expected Jackson to be a strategic backup for Christopher Nkunku, their signing from RB Leipzig. However, due to Nkunku’s recurring injuries, Jackson was forced into the leading striker role over the past two seasons. Despite this, his inconsistent form has compelled The Blues to seek replacements during this summer. They have signed Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich, which means Jackson’s position is no longer guaranteed.
In England, Newcastle and Aston Villa have emerged as potential destinations. Newcastle wants to finalize Alexander Isak’s future before making a final decision on Jackson. Aston Villa, on the other hand, struggles to meet Chelsea’s £60 million asking price, especially under strict profit and financial sustainability regulations. However, Aston Villa holds an advantage as coach Unai Emery, who previously managed Jackson at Villarreal, is eager to reunite with his former player.
Additionally, Napoli is among the clubs monitoring the situation, though it remains unclear whether they will pursue a permanent transfer or a short-term loan. If successful, the Serie A club could offer Jackson a fresh chapter in his career within Italian football.
Chelsea needs to quickly resolve the futures of both Jackson and Nkunku to advance their transfer plans. Stamford Bridge is targeting RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, who reportedly prefers a move to London, along with Alejandro Garnacho, a young talent no longer in Manchester United’s plans.
With the transfer deadline approaching, Jackson faces a crucial decision. He can either stay in the Premier League to further prove himself or seek new challenges in Germany or Italy. Regardless of his choice, this transfer saga is set to be one of the summer window’s final highlights.
