Midfielder Hendrio, who is currently a member of Hanoi FC, has officially become a Vietnamese citizen.
According to information on the official VPF website, midfielder Hendrio has officially been granted Vietnamese citizenship under the name Đỗ Hoàng Hên. This marks a significant milestone not only in the career of the 1994-born player but also expands quality options for the national team in the future.
Born on May 16, 1994, Hendrio developed through the youth academy of the prestigious Barcelona club before spending time playing in various countries.
Hendrio is currently regarded as one of the top-quality players in the V-League. With excellent tactical awareness, flexible ball distribution skills, and outstanding individual technique, he quickly won the hearts of fans since arriving in Vietnam. Hendrio has also expressed his desire to commit long-term to Vietnamese football and aspires to represent the national team, similar to his former teammate at Nam Dinh, Nguyễn Xuân Sơn.
Hendrio’s official naturalization is expected to bring a fresh boost to the national team, especially as coach Kim Sang Sik seeks ways to enhance creativity in midfield.
If called up, Hendrio could combine with star players like Quang Hải and Hoàng Đức to form a dynamic midfield under the Korean coach’s tactics.
Beyond his skills, Hendrio is praised for his professionalism and affection for the country where he has built his career. In many media interviews, the Hanoi FC player has affirmed that he considers Vietnam his “second home” and wishes to contribute for the long term.
Hendrio’s presence continues the trend of naturalizing quality players for Vietnamese football, following successful cases like Xuân Sơn, Đặng Văn Lâm, and Filip Nguyễn.
With his official Vietnamese citizenship, Hendrio has opened a new chapter in his career and raised high expectations among supporters. In the near future, he could fully participate in the national team and become a strategic asset for Vietnamese football’s ambitions to reach new heights.
