According to the latest reports from Spanish outlet Marca, Real Madrid’s 29-year-old Spanish midfielder Ceballos has reached an agreement to join Marseille on loan, with the deal structured as a one-season loan plus a compulsory €10 million purchase clause, and the contract will last for three years.
It is reported that Ceballos is eager to leave for a club competing in the top five European leagues with European competition opportunities, and the player has even accepted a salary reduction to facilitate his move to Marseille. Real Madrid has given their blessing for his departure, and the club will receive the €10 million transfer fee after one year; currently, Ceballos’ market value on Transfermarkt stands at €10 million, equal to the buyout fee.
Ceballos came through the youth academy of Betis and transferred to Real Madrid in the summer of 2017 for €16.5 million. He was also loaned out to Arsenal and has played 194 games for Real Madrid, scoring 7 goals and providing 16 assists.
Now 29 years old, Ceballos stands 1.79 meters tall, is right-footed, and can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, or left central midfielder. His contract with Real Madrid runs until 2027. Last season, he appeared in 41 matches across all competitions, starting 22 times, totaling 1988 minutes on the pitch, without scoring but contributing 2 assists.
