Ronaldo has been surpassed on social media, Messi remains unbeatable!

The post announcing Taylor Swift's engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce has become the second quickest Instagram post to hit 10 million likes, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo's earlier record.

In a shocking move in the entertainment world on August 27th, singer Taylor Swift caused a social media storm when she revealed her engagement to Travis Kelce. Her Instagram post reached 10 million likes in just 1 hour and 5 minutes, becoming the second fastest post ever to hit this milestone, beating the previous record of 2 hours and 10 minutes held by the famous chess photo between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, the ultimate record still belongs to Messi.

Regarded as the greatest player of all time, Messi commands enormous influence. This was proven by his iconic post celebrating Argentina's 2022 World Cup victory, which took only 39 minutes to reach 10 million likes. Therefore, Swift and Ronaldo still have a long way to go to break this record.

In the photo featuring a chessboard with Messi, Ronaldo eventually garnered over 41 million likes for a Louis Vuitton advertisement. Meanwhile, Messi's similar post from November 2022 received 32 million likes. Nevertheless, Messi holds the all-time record with his World Cup victory celebration photo, which has amassed 74.5 million likes over the past three years.

Although Messi holds the record for the most liked Instagram post, Cristiano Ronaldo remains the undisputed "king" in terms of social media influence. The Portuguese superstar currently leads the world with 663 million followers, far ahead of Lionel Messi, who has around 506 million, and Taylor Swift with 281 million. This massive number not only confirms Ronaldo's personal brand stature but also shows he remains the most influential figure on Instagram globally.

Putting aside Instagram records, Messi is expected to play in the Leagues Cup semifinal with Inter Miami against Orlando City on the morning of August 28 (Vietnam time). Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Al-Nassr will visit Al-Taawoun in the Saudi Pro League this weekend.
