Dembele breaks down in tears

Ousmane Dembele could not hold back his tears when he claimed the Ballon d'Or for the first time, closing a legendary season at PSG with numerous glorious moments.

The Paris Saint-Germain star - Ousmane Dembele was officially crowned the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner after an explosive season. The award was presented to him by the legend Ronaldinho at a grand ceremony in Paris, attended by many football stars worldwide.

Dembele was considered the top contender before the ceremony but faced fierce competition from Barcelona’s young talent Lamine Yamal and his former teammate Raphinha. Ultimately, his outstanding performance throughout the 2024/25 season helped him surpass rivals to claim football’s most prestigious honor for the first time.

At the moment of receiving the award, Dembele broke down on stage while mentioning his family, especially his mother, Fatiamata. After his heartfelt speech, she was invited onto the stage to share the joy with her son. “I want to thank my mother, she has always been by my side,” Dembele said emotionally, tears streaming down his face.

In the past season, the French striker delivered a stellar performance with 35 goals and 16 assists, playing a crucial role in PSG’s domestic treble triumph including Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophee des Champions, and the Champions League title. He also shone in the UEFA Super Cup as PSG defeated Tottenham.

With his excellent form, Dembele also earned numerous individual awards such as Ligue 1 Player of the Year, Ligue 1 top scorer with 21 goals in 29 matches, and Champions League Best Player after scoring 8 goals and providing 6 assists.

This marks a major turning point in Dembele’s career. Once regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents during his time at Dortmund, six underwhelming years at Barcelona caused many to doubt his ability to return to the top. However, at 28, after winning the 2018 World Cup with France, Dembele has finally proven his true value and potential.
