Văn Lâm 'asks for a blessing' to play football as skillfully as Xuân Son for his son

Following Ninh Bình's win against Nam Định, goalkeeper Đặng Văn Lâm attracted notice by jokingly requesting Xuân Son's football skills for his young son.

On the evening of September 22, Ninh Bình FC secured a 2-0 win over Thép Xanh Nam Định in the 4th round of the 2025/26 V-League. On the field, goalkeeper Đặng Văn Lâm was a solid last line of defense, playing a key role in keeping a clean sheet for the team from the ancient capital. Off the field, he and his family created touching moments that delighted fans.

Right after the match, Văn Lâm and his wife Yến Xuân, along with their young son, reunited with striker Nguyễn Xuân Son, who recently returned to Vietnam after a long recovery from injury in Brazil. During their conversation, Yến Xuân unexpectedly captured her husband stroking Xuân Son’s leg and then touching their son's leg, with a playful caption: “Dad is asking for the striker’s blessing for our son.” The amusing gesture by the goalkeeper born in 1993 made Xuân Son laugh uncontrollably, and everyone present applauded in response.

Additionally, Yến Xuân posted a family photo with Xuân Son, accompanied by the message: “We’re so happy to see you again bro” (We are very glad to meet you again). The striker born in 1997 later shared this moment and emotionally wrote: “I love being with your family. What a handsome and strong boy. See you at my house soon.” (I’m happy to be with your family. The boy is lovely and strong. See you soon at my place).

Although not yet able to play, Xuân Son’s presence in the stands remains a great source of encouragement for Nam Định. After suffering a bone fracture injury in the 2024 ASEAN Cup final, he returned to Vietnam in early September and is gradually regaining fitness during training sessions.

Meanwhile, Văn Lâm’s small family also attracts much attention. Their first son, Lâm Minh, born in February, is often brought by his mother to cheer for his father at matches. On social media, Yến Xuân freely shares everyday moments, from caring for their child to supporting her husband during games.

From his solid performance on the field to the warm scenes after matches, Văn Lâm continues to show his important role both professionally and emotionally, while Xuân Son brings hope for an early return wearing the colors of Nam Định and the Vietnamese national team.
