Coach Vu Hong Viet praised Van Lam for his excellent display against Ninh Binh and showed disappointment as the team could not achieve their set goals.
Recently, Nam Dinh Club suffered a loss away to Ninh Binh. Despite dominating possession and constantly attacking the opponent’s goal, Coach Vu Hong Viet’s team lacked sharpness. Meanwhile, Ninh Binh, led by stars like Hoang Duc and Thanh Thinh, secured the crucial 3 points, extending their winning streak to four matches.
After the match, Coach Vu Hong Viet showed his sadness but also praised Dang Van Lam for his exceptional efforts in denying many chances from Nam Dinh.
“Defeat always brings sadness, not only to me but also to the players. We aimed for victory, but the whole team must move forward and focus on the next match. Today, Ninh Binh took advantage of our mistakes to claim all 3 points. Dang Van Lam delivered an outstanding performance, blocking many opportunities we created. I believe it was an exciting match for both teams.”
He further explained the defeat:
“I always pursue an attacking style, regardless of the opponent, and usually prefer to use foreign players upfront. Our gameplay was stable without issues, but unfortunately, we failed to capitalize on chances while Dang Van Lam was outstanding. Ninh Binh chose a counter-attacking defense, waiting for transitions from their two forwards. Although we analyzed carefully and controlled most of the game, a brief lapse allowed Hoang Duc to score.”
Additionally, Coach Vu Hong Viet praised striker Percy Tau.
“Percy Tau still maintains high creativity in his play. I regret that Thanh Hao’s injury at the end of the first half forced a change of plans. Otherwise, Percy could have been brought on early in the second half. Nevertheless, he remains a very effective attacking threat.”
The loss to Ninh Binh marks the second consecutive match without a win for Nam Dinh. After five games, they have accumulated 7 points and currently sit in 7th place, 5 points behind Ninh Binh at the top.
