Young player Lê Tấn Dũng unfortunately suffered an injury and could not travel to South Korea with the U18 Vietnam team.
On the afternoon of September 23, on behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation leadership, General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú visited and encouraged the young player Lê Tấn Dũng, who recently underwent surgery for his injury at the hospital.
Born in 2008, Lê Tấn Dũng is a left-back currently playing for the youth team of Sông Lam Nghệ An club. During training with the U18 Vietnam team preparing for their training camp in South Korea, Tấn Dũng unfortunately suffered a fracture to the outer ankle of his right leg and had to undergo surgery.
Lê Tấn Dũng is one of the promising young players, previously called up to the Vietnam U16 team for the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship in Indonesia in June. Afterwards, he continued to be part of the Vietnam U17 squad preparing for the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Qualifiers and the AFC U17 Championship finals scheduled for early 2025 in Saudi Arabia.
In the last training session before the U18 Vietnam team’s departure to South Korea, defender Lê Tấn Dũng unfortunately sustained a fracture to the fibula of his right leg. This unfortunate incident caused the player, who is contracted with SLNA, to miss the Seoul Eou Cup 2025 international tournament held from September 21 to 28 in Seoul. Lê Tấn Dũng was one of nine players also dropped from the U18 Vietnam team.
The Seoul Eou Cup 2025 will take place from September 21 to 28 in Seoul, featuring eight quality youth teams from the region including: Vietnam U18 preliminary squad, Seoul FA (top U18 selection from Seoul), K League U18 All Star (best U18 players from K League), Gangneung Jungang High School – current South Korean high school champions, Kanto University (Japan), Johor Darul Ta’zim U18 (Malaysia), Buriram United U18 (Thailand), and Zhejiang U18 (China).
In the first two matches in South Korea, U18 Vietnam lost 1-4 to K League U18 All Star and 0-1 to Kanto University (Japan). On September 24, U18 Vietnam will play their final match against Zhejiang U18 (China).
