Barca dominates the Ballon d'Or history with an unmatched record

Once more, FC Barcelona stands out at the Ballon d'Or awards. Aitana Bonmati achieves a record of three straight Ballon d'Or titles, as Vicky Lopez and Lamine Yamal further prove the power of the club’s youth players.

The 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony once again witnessed FC Barcelona's dominance. Aitana Bonmatí was honored as the world’s best player, marking her third consecutive win of this prestigious award. Additionally, Ewa Pajor was recognized as the best female striker, Vicky Lopez as the best young female player, and Lamine Yamal as the best young male player, confirming Barcelona's balanced strength in both women’s and men’s football.

With Aitana Bonmati’s victory, Barça’s total Ballon d'Or trophies now stand at 17, evenly split between men’s and women’s football. This keeps the Catalan club at the top globally for the most Ballon d'Or winners.

On the women’s side, the club leads with 5 awards, including two by Alexia Putella (2021 and 2022) and three by Aitana Bonmati (2023, 2024, and 2025). For the men, Barcelona holds 12 Ballon d'Ors, tied with Real Madrid. Legendary names contributing to this record include Luis Suarez (1960), Johan Cruyff (1973, 1974), Hristo Stoichkov (1994), Rivaldo (1999), Ronaldinho (2005), and Lionel Messi (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019).

Barcelona not only excels in the Ballon d'Or but also dominates the award for the best young players (under 21). Vicky Lopez became the first winner in the female category, while Lamine Yamal retained the title on the male side. To date, Barça has won five such awards in seven seasons, far surpassing any other club worldwide. Other club winners include Gavi (2022) and Pedri (2021), highlighting the depth and talent of young players at Camp Nou.

Barcelona’s superiority in these two prestigious awards clearly reflects their philosophy of nurturing young talent and investing equally in both men’s and women’s football. No club worldwide matches Barça’s young talent, reinforcing the Catalan team’s leading position.

Since the male award was introduced in 2018, only PSG, Juventus, and Real Madrid have won one award each, but none can rival the comprehensive achievements and influence of FC Barcelona.
