AC Milan showcased an outstanding performance at San Siro by beating Lecce 3-0, thereby confidently advancing to the Coppa Italia round of 16. Yet, their next opponent is quite challenging.
Santiago Gimenez ended his goal drought, Christopher Nkunku scored his first goal for the Rossoneri, and Christian Pulisic completed the victory with the decisive goal, sending Milan forward to face Lazio in the upcoming round.
Right from the kickoff, Milan showed dominance. Ruben Loftus-Cheek nearly scored but his shot was blocked on the goal line by a Lecce defender. At minute 10, Nkunku hit the post, and Lecce’s troubles increased when Jamil Siebert was sent off after VAR confirmed his foul on the French striker.
At the 20th minute, Gimenez broke the deadlock with a close-range tap-in from Davide Bartesaghi’s cross. Soon after, Adrien Rabiot also struck the post, but the second goal was still missing.
