English League Cup: Ekitike scores for Liverpool then receives a red card; Chelsea secures a comeback win away

English League Cup Round 3: Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike scored to help Liverpool secure a win in this season's League Cup.

Early this morning (September 24), Liverpool faced Southampton in the third round of the English League Cup. Coach Arne Slot rotated his squad but still started Isak. The Swedish forward coolly finished in the 43rd minute to open the score. Federico Chiesa capitalized on a careless pass from Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to lay the ball back to Isak, who scored.

However, Liverpool’s performance was not very strong, and Shea Charles of Southampton equalized in the 76th minute after Wataru Endo headed the ball back toward his own net.
