Quy Nhơn United Football Club has officially named a new chairman who is part of the Vietnam national team’s coaching team.
Quy Nhơn United officially appointed coach Đinh Hồng Vinh as the club’s chairman, marking a significant milestone that begins the club’s rebuilding journey. Currently, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh serves as a technical assistant to head coach Kim Sang Sik across the national team levels. In September, he was assigned as the interim head coach of the Vietnam national team while Kim Sang Sik was busy leading the U23 Vietnam team.
A familiar face in Vietnamese football, Đinh Hồng Vinh was born and raised in Bình Định. He once played for HAGL as a player and has since devoted himself fully to coaching and youth development. He has been part of memorable milestones: from Vietnam U20’s first-ever World Cup appearance in 2017, to the U23 Vietnam journey under coach Park Hang-seo, and recently winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup with the national team.
Additionally, Đinh Hồng Vinh previously served as chairman and CEO of the former Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu football club and was also the CEO of Juventus Vietnam Academy, which has trained many young talents for Vietnamese football. Returning to Bình Định in his new role, the new chairman emotionally shared:
“Returning to my hometown to contribute to the club is a great honor for me. This will be a challenging journey, but I will work alongside the team to build a professional, united club with a distinctive playing style that leaves a lasting impression on fans.”
Despite being runners-up in the 2023/2024 V-League, Quy Nhơn United sold many key players due to financial difficulties after just one season, resulting in finishing last in the 2024/2025 V-League and relegation to the First Division. The club also officially changed its name from Quy Nhơn Bình Định to Quy Nhơn United.
The 2025/2026 First Division season is predicted to be tough for Quy Nhơn United, even though HAGL has added many young players to the squad. The club was recently eliminated from the National Cup by Long An and drew against Văn Hiến University in the first round of the First Division.
