English media recently revealed that Manchester United possesses a prodigy who scored up to 100 goals in a single season and may be called up to the first team by coach Ruben Amorim.
Dan Gore: MU's rising star currently making waves
Dan Gore is among those who left Old Trafford on loan and has joined Rotherham in League One, a club he also played for last season.
This midfielder has faced several serious injuries over the past few years, but earlier he was considered one of the most promising talents from the MU academy. Entering the new season, Gore started impressively and was even a rare bright spot in Rotherham’s 0-1 loss to Stockport County last weekend.
Mike Hargreaves, former Burnley coach who trained Gore from U9 to U12, shared with Manchester Evening News: “What I saw him do at MU was already shown by Gore during his time at Burnley. Back then, he played higher up and scored over 100 goals each season, and I’m not exaggerating. Now Gore plays deeper but still makes a difference.”
Statistics show Gore made 4 interceptions, 3 successful tackles, 17 ball recoveries, completed 34 passes, and succeeded in 2 out of 3 dribbles. The Rotherham Advertiser rated Gore 8/10, describing him as “far superior to his teammates.”
Playing as a deep-lying midfielder allows Gore to utilize his passing, control the tempo, and use his acceleration on the ball to create chances.
Gore could change Amorim’s perspective
During the summer transfer window, there were reports that MU was ready to sell Gore outright, but in the end, he only left on loan. Ruben Amorim hasn’t had many opportunities to see Gore shine due to previous injuries, but if the 20-year-old midfielder continues this impressive form, he might have to reconsider.
Gore is accustomed to playing as an attacking midfielder, but his strong performances as a defensive midfielder open a new path. MU plans to add at least two midfielders next summer, including a major signing. However, Gore might make Amorim rethink and give this homegrown talent a chance.
