Midfielder Cole Palmer has achieved an impressive milestone in the race for the 2025 Ballon d'Or.
Cole Palmer scored 18 goals and provided 14 assists in 52 matches across all competitions last season.
At 23 years old, his outstanding performances played a crucial role in helping the London club win the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup. Moreover, Palmer's contributions paved the way for Chelsea's return to the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League.
In the current season, Palmer has maintained his high level with two goals in four appearances. Chelsea is currently sixth in the Premier League with eight points.
Since joining Stamford Bridge from Manchester City in 2023, Palmer has enjoyed a brilliant period. He also made history by finishing seventh in the 2025 Ballon d'Or voting, becoming the first player since 2011 to reach the top 10 without playing in the Champions League.
The last person to achieve this was Neymar 14 years ago while at Santos. At that time, before moving to Europe, Neymar made a huge impact before joining Barcelona, then PSG, and later transferring to Saudi Arabia in a high-profile deal.
In the 2025 Ballon d'Or voting, Ousmane Dembele overcame many strong contenders to win the prestigious award for the first time in his career. The PSG star played a key role in helping the French club win both the Champions League and Ligue 1.
Dembele placed ahead of Barcelona’s young talent Lamine Yamal, who helped the Catalan club clinch La Liga over the mighty Real Madrid. Third place went to Vitinha of PSG, a midfielder who was instrumental in the club’s Champions League victory and Portugal’s win against Spain in the UEFA Nations League final.
