Victory representing West Asia to secure a spot in the major tournament, the Vietnamese team praised by AFC

The Vietnamese futsal team was commended by the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) after securing qualification for the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship.

Today (September 24), the Vietnam futsal team brilliantly earned their spot in the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship by defeating Lebanon 4-0 in the last match of Group E qualifiers. Even though a draw would have sufficed to advance, Coach Diego Giustozzi’s players started with determination, employing fast-paced and dominant attacking play. Da Hai, Manh Dung, Tu Minh Quang, and Vu Ngoc Anh scored goals that led Vietnam’s futsal team to victory over Lebanon and qualification as Group E leaders with a perfect record of three wins.

Following the match, the AFC praised the Vietnam futsal team: "Vietnam 4-0 Lebanon. A flawless win, paving the way to the 2026 AFC finals. Congratulations to the Vietnam Futsal team."

Among the goal scorers in the match against Lebanon was the 2024 Futsal Silver Ball winner Nguyen Manh Dung, who plays as a fixo. Additionally, Da Hai (born in 2005), who opened the scoring, is a promising young player in Vietnamese futsal.

In the qualifiers, the Vietnam futsal team scored 20 goals and conceded only 3 across 3 matches. The first teams to confirm their places for the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship are Vietnam, Afghanistan, and host Indonesia.

The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship will take place in Indonesia from January 27 to February 7, 2026. The national futsal team is the fourth Vietnamese football squad to qualify for the 2026 AFC finals. Before them, the women’s national team, the U23 national team, and the U20 women’s national team had already successfully qualified for the 2026 AFC women’s, U23, and U20 championships respectively.
