Coach Mano Polking: 'There was no lucky win for CAHN against Cebu'

Coach Mano Polking confirmed that CAHN earned a well-deserved win against Cebu with total control of the match.

On the evening of September 24, CAHN narrowly defeated Cebu FC 1-0 at their home ground, Hang Day Stadium. CAHN dominated the game and created numerous dangerous chances in the second half. However, it wasn’t until the final minute that the Vietnamese overseas defender Cao Pendant Quang Vinh scored the crucial goal to seal the victory.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Coach Mano Polking stated that CAHN’s win was not due to luck: "We had to win this match, but it’s not accurate to say CAHN’s victory was lucky. We controlled and dominated the game, so this cannot be called a fortunate win."

In this match, the German coach also started center-back Pham Ly Duc. The former HAGL player performed solidly and was substituted early in the second half. When asked about the U23 Vietnamese player, Coach Mano Polking praised him: "Ly Duc is a player with a strong fighting spirit. Today, he had a good game." Additionally, Coach Polking highly rated Stefan Mauk: "He is classy, fast, and helps strengthen CAHN’s midfield."

Notably, CAHN’s head coach also did not hold back praise for Tran Dinh Trong, the team’s leader and defensive commander in this match:

"Dinh Trong is very experienced. Since we had Ly Duc playing in defense today, Dinh Trong’s communication with his defensive teammates was very important," Coach Polking explained.

The narrow 1-0 victory moved CAHN up to 3rd place on the standings with 3 points, keeping their hopes alive to compete for a spot in the later stages of the Shopee Cup. In their next match on December 3, CAHN will travel to face Buriram United.
