Vietnam's futsal team, women's national team, U23 team, and U20 women's team have all earned their places in the 2026 Asian Cup finals this year.
On the evening of September 24th, the Vietnamese futsal team officially qualified for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship after defeating Lebanon 4-0. After three matches, coach Diego Giustozzi's squad achieved three wins, scored 20 goals, and conceded only 3.
Notably, with this result, Vietnam's futsal team became the fourth Vietnamese football squad to qualify for the 2026 Asian finals. Previously, the women's national team, U23 national team, and U20 women's national team had all successfully passed the Asian qualifiers to secure their spots in the 2026 Asian women's, U23, and U20 women's championships. Remarkably, all four teams advanced with maximum points.
In early July, coach Mai Duc Chung's team won all three matches, scored 17 goals, and kept a clean sheet in Group E against Guam, Maldives, and UAE, earning 9 points to advance to the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals. In the final tournament, Huynh Nhu and her teammates were drawn into Group C alongside Japan, India, and Chinese Taipei. The team's goal is to finish second in the group to secure a quarterfinal spot.
In early September, coach Kim Sang Sik and the U23 Vietnam team won all three games against Yemen, Singapore, and Bangladesh, qualifying for the U23 Asian Cup finals for the sixth consecutive time. Since the tournament was renamed the U23 Asian Cup in 2016, Vietnam's U23 team has never missed the final stage. Their most notable achievement is the historic runner-up finish at Changzhou in 2018.
Matching this impressive performance, the Vietnam U20 women's team also defeated opponents Singapore, Hong Kong (China), and Kyrgyzstan in succession to earn a spot in the 2026 U20 Asian Cup finals.
