Man City, Arsenal, and Tottenham secured their places in the fourth round of the English League Cup.

Man City, Tottenham, and Arsenal all won to secure their spots in the fourth round of the English League Cup on a day when top coaches confidently rotated their squads, giving many young players the chance to experience domestic competition.

At John Smith’s Stadium, Man City defeated Huddersfield 2-0 in a completely dominant display. After three intense matches against Man Utd, Arsenal in the Premier League, and Napoli in the Champions League, coach Pep Guardiola rested many key players, giving opportunities to young academy stars.

Notably, Divine Mukasa made his first-team debut at just 18 years and 33 days old. Along with him, familiar academy players such as Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, Oscar Bobb, Nico O’Reilly, and goalkeeper James Trafford all started the match.

In the second half, the atmosphere became even more special as Guardiola introduced Jaden Heskey and his brother Reigan. They are the two sons of former England striker Emile Heskey, and both made their professional debuts for Manchester City. Additionally, Kaden Braithwaite and Stephen Mfuni were registered but remained on the bench.

Man City dominated possession with 77% ball control, taking 16 shots, six on target. In contrast, Huddersfield failed to register a single shot on goal against James Trafford.

As usual, Phil Foden was the standout star. In the 18th minute, after a quick one-two with Mukasa near the penalty area, the English midfielder curled a left-footed shot into the corner past goalkeeper Lee Nicholls. This was Foden’s second goal of the season, following his strike against Man Utd last weekend.

Not only scoring, Foden also assisted the final goal. In the 74th minute, he set up Savinho – the young Brazilian forward – who fired a left-footed shot from a tight angle that hit the Huddersfield crossbar before going in, making it 2-0. This was Savinho’s first goal after four appearances across all competitions, signaling a promising moment in the 20-year-old’s career.

Meanwhile, Tottenham easily defeated Doncaster Rovers – a League One team – 3-0. The London side’s goals were scored by Joao Palhinha, Brennan Johnson, and an own goal by Jay McGrath. This comfortable victory helped Spurs maintain positive momentum and advance in the League Cup.
