CAHN scored a last-minute winner, and coach Polking insists it was no luck

Hanoi Police FC won 1-0 against Cebu FC in the second round of Group A at the ASEAN Club Championship 2025/26, with Cao Penant Quang Vinh scoring in the 89th minute. However, coach Alexandre Polking insisted the team’s victory was not a matter of luck.

"We had to win this match, but I can’t say it was a lucky win. Throughout the game, we controlled and dominated the match, so it cannot be regarded as a fortunate victory," coach Polking explained.

He also praised the defense: "Đình Trọng is very experienced. Today, we had Lý Đức in defense. The communication between Đình Trọng and the defensive players around him is crucial. Lý Đức is a player with a strong fighting spirit and played very well today."

The match’s best player, Cao Penant Quang Vinh, said: "The opponents defended very solidly, making it difficult for us. However, the entire team never gave up, and I’m very happy to have contributed to the win."

Cebu coach Glenn Ramos expressed regret at conceding late, while praising CAHN: "I’m very proud of my players in both the match against Tampines Rovers and today’s game. They gave their all. It’s unfortunate that we conceded in the final minutes, but that doesn’t disappoint me. Against a well-organized team like CAHN, with their young squad, we tried to hold on for a point. But CAHN has many quality players. Honestly, I can’t pick a standout player on their side because everyone played well and showed clear class."

The 1-0 victory gave Hanoi Police FC their first 3 points after two matches, temporarily placing them 4th in Group A. Cebu FC remains at the bottom with no points.

In the third round on December 3rd, CAHN will face Buriram United away. Previously, in the ASEAN Club Championship 2024/25 final, CAHN drew 3-3 with Buriram after 120 minutes but lost in the penalty shootout.

The upcoming match at Buriram is considered a "turning point," as the losing team is likely to be eliminated from the group stage.
