Manchester United's list of players to be cleared out next year has been revealed, led by Casemiro among eight players! Maguire could renew if he accepts a pay cut.

No matter how Ruben Amorim performs, Manchester United will press on with rebuilding after this season, which will see multiple players depart, including the club's top earner Casemiro. Among those whose contracts expire, only former captain Maguire might be renewed, provided he agrees to reduce his weekly wage by £190,000.

Brazilian international Casemiro’s contract ends this season; Manchester United holds a one-year option to extend, but it is unlikely to be exercised. The "Big Boss" will turn 34 in February next year. He joined United for £70 million on a four-year deal paying £350,000 per week, a transfer often criticized by owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The club plans to invest heavily in a new midfielder. Ruben Amorim is interested in Brighton’s Bissouma, Crystal Palace’s Adam Hložek, and Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson. Allowing Casemiro to leave on a free transfer would save £17.5 million annually in wages.

Manchester United also hopes to convert loan deals for Sancho, Rashford, Højlund, and André Onana into permanent transfers after this season. Barcelona holds a €30 million option to buy Rashford, Napoli must pay €40 million for Højlund if they qualify for the Champions League, but Sancho and Onana’s loans have no purchase clauses.

Sancho, 25, transferred from Dortmund to Manchester United in 2022 for £73 million. Over two years later, he has yet to play a league match for the Red Devils and has been loaned out for two and a half years consecutively. His contract also expires this season. Although the club has an option to extend for one more year, they hesitate to activate it.

If Manchester United successfully part ways with these players, besides transfer fees, they will save substantial wages. Rashford earns £325,000 weekly, Sancho £250,000, Onana £120,000, and Højlund £75,000, totaling £38.5 million annually!

Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia is the only member of the "five locker room rats" not retained during the summer window. Unless this 26-year-old finds a buyer in the winter window, he will be released in the summer as United will not use the one-year extension option. Malacia was the first signing under Ten Hag for €17 million but has undergone two knee surgeries and hasn’t played for United in 550 days. After returning from injury, Amorim started him in five matches but substituted him before halftime in four of them.

Third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton’s contract expires in nine months, by which time he will be 40 years old. He has already completed coaching courses and is open to becoming a football pundit. Two years ago, he provided commentary for England’s European Championship qualifier against North Macedonia.

Manchester United will also try to sell England left-back Luke Shaw, who will be 31 by this time next year and whose contract runs until 2027. Additionally, captain Bruno Fernandes, academy prospect Kobbie Mainoo, and goalkeeper Alphonse Bain-Dil may also leave next summer, though these moves might not be actively pushed by the club.

Manchester United is expected to discuss a contract renewal with Maguire, whose £80 million deal was extended by one year earlier this year and will expire at the end of this season. Amorim values his leadership and refused to sell him this summer. The club may try to keep Maguire on reduced wages; he will turn 33 in March next year.
