The Vietnam team departs for home, having excellently fulfilled their duties at the 2026 Asian Futsal Qualifiers
As planned, today (September 25), the Vietnam futsal team will leave China to return home, expected to arrive in Vietnam at 6:30 PM the same day, concluding a successful preparation and competition journey at the 2026 Asian Futsal Qualifiers.
At the end of the qualifiers, coach Diego Giustozzi’s squad won all 3 matches, defeating Hong Kong (China) 9-1, China 7-2, and Lebanon 4-0 respectively. Throughout the tournament, the Vietnam futsal team displayed a dynamic attacking style, scoring a total of 20 goals while conceding only 3. Finishing top of Group E, the team achieved their goal of qualifying for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals.
Immediately following this achievement, the Vietnam Football Federation’s Executive Committee congratulated the entire team and awarded coach Diego Giustozzi’s squad a bonus of 600 million VND. This is a well-deserved recognition for their dedicated training and the committed performances of captain Pham Duc Hoa and his teammates.
So far, 14 out of the 16 slots for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals have been confirmed. The group leaders advancing include: Australia (A), Thailand (B), Japan (C), Vietnam (E), Kyrgyzstan (F), Iran (G), and Afghanistan (H). The six best runners-up are Kuwait, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Lebanon, and Malaysia. The remaining spot belongs to host Indonesia. Only Group G (Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, Pakistan) will compete from October 18-22 to determine the last two qualifiers.
For the remainder of 2025, the Vietnam futsal team will focus on the 2025 SEA Games scheduled for December. Afterwards, the squad will continue preparations for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals, held in Indonesia from January 27 to February 7, 2026, featuring the continent’s top 16 teams.
By qualifying for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals, the Vietnam futsal team becomes the fourth Vietnamese football team to participate in a continental final in 2026, following the women’s team, men’s U23, and women’s U20 teams.
