Center-back Trần Đình Trọng provided important insights following CAHN's tough win against Cebu FC on the night of September 24th.
At Hàng Đẫy Stadium on the evening of September 24th, CAHN struggled but ultimately defeated Cebu FC (Philippines) thanks to Cao Pendant Quang Vinh’s precious goal in the 89th minute. This timely result opened a hopeful path for the Vietnamese representative to advance in the regional competition.
After the match, center-back Trần Đình Trọng admitted the team had endured a challenging day on the field:"Today was truly a very tough match for CAHN. Our goal was to secure 3 points at home, but it wasn’t until the final minutes that we scored. When the goal came so late, the emotions exploded, and everyone was very happy.
The opponent played deep defense, causing many difficulties. Although the team has experienced similar situations before, there are still limitations on the international stage like the ASEAN Champions League, especially in finishing touches."
With Quang Hải sidelined due to injury, Đình Trọng was trusted by coach Mano Polking to wear the captain’s armband. Acknowledging the pressure, Đình Trọng affirmed he still gave his best performance:
"Wearing the captain’s armband does bring pressure. Even though the head coach and club leaders have confidence in me, I was a bit nervous before the match. But once on the pitch, I pushed the pressure aside to play to my full ability",the center-back born in 1997 said.
"The biggest difference between the squad for the ASEAN Champions League and the V-League is cohesion. In the V-League, only 3 foreign players can be registered, but internationally, more foreign players are allowed, so it takes time to coordinate. However, the team’s basic playing style remains established.
After stumbling in the opening match in Thailand, the whole team determined that every remaining group stage match must aim for 3 points to advance to the semifinals,"the CAHN captain stated.
