Round 2 of the First Division: Intense matchups

Following a first round that revealed little, the clubs, particularly the championship hopefuls, are eager to claim wins in round two.

From September 26 to 28, Round 2 of the 2025/26 First Division will take place, promising thrilling and evenly matched contests.

On September 26, the Long An stadium will host the “Western Derby” between Long An and Đồng Tháp. After losing their opening match, the home team must win to improve their standing, while Đồng Tháp has shown more stability but still lacks sharpness in finishing. On the same day, Xuân Thiện Phú Thọ will debut at Việt Trì Stadium against Thanh niên TPHCM. Both teams earned 1 point in the first round, so this is likely to be a tightly contested match.

On September 27, ĐH Văn Hiến will host Trường Tươi Đồng Nai at Thống Nhất Stadium. The “student team” surprised by drawing with Quy Nhơn United, whereas TTĐN started below expectations. This match is a crucial test for coach Nguyễn Việt Thắng’s squad aiming for promotion. Meanwhile, Bắc Ninh FC, heavily invested, will make their debut at Việt Yên Stadium against Khatoco Khánh Hòa, currently leading the table. This promises to be a highly dramatic encounter.

On September 28, TPHCM will face Trẻ PVFCAND in Bà Rịa. Under coach Nguyễn Minh Phương, TPHCM has shown commendable fighting spirit, but newcomer PVFCAND also proved tough in the opening round. Meanwhile, Quảng Ninh will host Quy Nhơn United in Cẩm Phả, where many former veterans who once played for the đất Võ team have now returned to the mining region. This matchup holds much history and is expected to be intense.
