Kylian Mbappe has equaled a remarkable scoring record set by Cristiano Ronaldo while playing for Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe has been the driving force behind Real Madrid's excellent start to the 2025/26 season. The French striker scored crucial goals right from the opening matches under coach Xabi Alonso, helping the Spanish manager get off to a strong start on the sidelines.
This has led to frequent comparisons between Mbappe and Madrid legends, especially Cristiano Ronaldo. So, how does Mbappe’s early season form compare to the greatest scorer in Los Blancos history?
Mbappe has netted nine goals in just his first seven appearances for Madrid, not including two goals he scored for France during the September international break. With this record, Mbappe has significantly improved from five goals at the same stage last season, while also matching Ronaldo's best early season goal tally.
Ronaldo never scored more than nine goals in his first seven matches of a season at Madrid, although he reached this mark twice before (in 2009/10 and 2013/14).
Ronaldo also scored eight goals in his first seven games during the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons, while only once scoring fewer than four goals in the opening seven matches for Madrid — that was in 2010/11 when he scored just one goal.
Mbappe still has to work hard to catch Ronaldo’s best scoring season at Los Blancos, which was in 2014/15 with 61 goals and 21 assists in just 54 matches across all competitions.
Nevertheless, the early signs for Mbappe are very promising. The 1998-born superstar is surely determined to break more records with Madrid this season and win his first trophy in the white jersey.
In his debut season at the Bernabeu, Mbappe shattered numerous records. Among the most notable is the record for most goals scored in a first season for Real with 39 goals in 53 appearances, surpassing the legendary Ivan Zamorano’s 37 goals in 45 matches during the 1992/93 campaign.
