Harry Kane agrees to join a top European club after parting ways with Bayern Munich

According to international media, Harry Kane is believed to have reached an agreement for his next career step amid strong interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Did Harry Kane agree to join Barcelona?

The English striker left the Premier League in summer 2023, departing from the club he had been attached to since his youth, Tottenham, to join Bayern Munich in a transfer worth approximately £86 million. Spurs' leadership approved selling Kane because he had only one year left on his contract and did not intend to renew it.

Previously, Manchester United was very eager to acquire Kane, but the deal could not proceed as the Red Devils were unwilling to negotiate with former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Instead, Man Utd shifted their focus to Rasmus Hojlund, an expensive replacement who quickly turned out to be a disappointment. Meanwhile, Kane has been shining brightly at Bayern Munich.

Last season, Kane’s long wait for a team trophy ended when he helped Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga. So far, the 32-year-old striker has scored 98 goals in 103 appearances for the "Bavarian Giants."

However, Kane’s future remains uncertain. A clause in his contract allows him to leave Bayern in 2026 for a fee below £60 million, creating the possibility of a Premier League return. Both Tottenham and Man Utd are considered potential destinations. Yet a report from Spain revealed that Kane has "agreed to replace Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona."

The source mentioned that Barcelona is also considering targets Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, but Kane "is regarded as equally attractive and much cheaper" compared to those two options.

Importantly, the English striker is said to have given Barca the go-ahead because the "idea of joining" the Catalan club is very appealing. Additionally, he admires coach Hansi Flick, who is currently managing Barcelona.

Nevertheless, in a recent comment, former Tottenham and Man Utd striker Teddy Sheringham suggested that Kane returning to Spurs "would be the most obvious option."

He said: "It would be very interesting if Harry Kane returned to play in England. Football changes very fast, and predicting where he will go after this season is really difficult."
