Manchester United’s head coach Rúben Amorim has clearly stated his future, expressing confidence that he will complete this season. "I expect to be here for the next 12 months," Amorim told Sky Sports UK. The 40-year-old Portuguese emphasized his passion for football, saying coaching a world-class club like the Red Devils is his dream, and his philosophy has remained unchanged.

Amorim insists he will not make hasty changes due to external pressure: "This is my job, my responsibility, and my life. My system will continue to evolve, and I will persist in implementing changes in my own way. I hope to have enough time to complete these adjustments."
According to British media reports, Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos group still back Amorim, but their support comes with conditions: if United fail to qualify for European competition this season, Amorim will ultimately be dismissed.
Sir Jim believes the squad he has built for Amorim has the quality to compete for a Champions League spot, but he is willing to allow the coach a period of success, so qualifying for the Europa League this season is also an acceptable outcome.
If Manchester United fail to finish even in the top eight, Sir Jim will consider Amorim unsuitable to lead the club’s revival. The club is already exploring several new managerial candidates, among whom many fans favor Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner.
Manchester United have not yet contacted Glasner to gauge his interest in joining the club, but the Crystal Palace coach has the backing of influential figures behind the scenes. Transfer expert Ben Jacobs noted that Glasner’s achievements with Palace in winning the FA Cup and Community Shield have caught the Red Devils’ attention.

Jacobs said: "Manchester United still want to work with Amorim and hope to make things work smoothly. So, in the short term, he will remain in charge, but if his performance consistently falls short of expectations, other candidates’ names might gain more attention."
He added: "Of course, coaches like Glasner have earned recognition. But Amorim still has support, as shown by the fact that United have no related external recruitment activities or shortlisted candidates. To my knowledge, even a succession plan has not been formulated yet."
The 51-year-old Austrian Glasner is not only the first coach in Crystal Palace’s history to win a major trophy but also led Eintracht Frankfurt to an Europa League title, demonstrating his coaching quality and adaptability. Moreover, Glasner employs a three-center-back system at Palace, which means Manchester United’s tactics would not require major changes.
Glasner has the ability to adapt based on the players at his disposal. He took over at Selhurst Park in February 2024 when Crystal Palace was 16th in the Premier League. Under his leadership, the team defeated strong opponents like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Aston Villa, climbing into the top ten. In his second season, Palace again beat Manchester United, completed a double over Tottenham, a treble over Villa, and won the FA Cup at Wembley by defeating Manchester City.
In just a year and a half coaching Crystal Palace, Glasner has achieved results, unlike Amorim, who says he needs a "process" and significant reinforcements. During the "Eagles" period, key players like Olise and Eze were even sold. Data shows Palace have been unbeaten in their last 18 matches across all competitions, won two trophies, and currently rank temporarily in the Premier League’s top five.

It is reported that this season will be Glasner’s last at Crystal Palace. If he renews his contract, he will demand a release clause. He is highly ambitious and intends to coach a Premier League powerhouse. Manchester United appears to be the strongest candidate among the top English clubs to change managers in the short term.
