MU reaches agreement to sign young Colombian star

MU has made its first signing of the summer transfer window by agreeing a preliminary deal with young Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco.

This 17-year-old prospect will officially join the club in July after turning 18. Simultaneously, the Red Devils are also giving a trial opportunity to Senegal U17 captain Mouhamed Dabo, showing their plan to rebuild the midfield for both now and the future.

According to the Daily Mail, MU secured Orozco from Fortaleza after his impressive performances at youth international level caught their eye. Born in 2007, he played a major role in leading Colombia U17 to the final of the CONMEBOL U17 Championship earlier this year. Like the recent transfer of Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon to Old Trafford, Orozco will start with the youth team before targeting a spot in the first team.

Alongside this signing, United is also trialing Mouhamed Dabo, Senegal U17 captain and a graduate of Be Sport Academy. Dabo is praised for his leadership skills and potential to develop into an important player in the future. Earlier, the Red Devils’ scouting network in Africa found Malian midfielder Sekou Kone, who joined the club last year.

Coach Ruben Amorim has clearly expressed the wish to strengthen youth and depth in midfield, which has lacked stability this season. The pair Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo have not yet shown consistent form, while Bruno Fernandes has often had to play out of his usual position. Casemiro’s red card in the match against Chelsea and subsequent suspension further highlight the necessity of adding reinforcements.

Orozco will officially join United in July, with plans for close monitoring at the academy. Meanwhile, Dabo must perform well enough during his trial to secure a permanent contract. Both deals indicate MU is determined to build a young core under Amorim, aiming at long-term objectives rather than focusing solely on the current season.
