Having to stay off the field for an extended time due to injury has led to a drop in Xuân Son’s transfer market worth.
After being out for over 9 months due to an injury sustained in the second leg final of the 2024 AFF Cup, Xuân Son is counting down the days to return to the pitch. The naturalized striker of Vietnam’s national team has been diligently undergoing rehabilitation and is expected to be ready to play by early 2026.
The lengthy absence from matches, without contributing goals or assists, has caused Xuân Son’s transfer value to decrease. The Transfermarkt website recently updated many players’ market values, and Xuân Son is now valued at only 650,000 Euros.
The reduction from 700,000 Euros to 650,000 Euros has pushed Xuân Son down to 9th place among the most valuable players in the current V-League. The naturalized striker of Vietnam’s national team failed to make the top ranks due to the influx of many high-quality foreign players this season.
Clubs like Ho Chi Minh City, Nam Dinh, and Hanoi FC have brought in renowned foreign players with transfer values close to 1 million Euros. This is a positive sign for Vietnamese football as it attracts many quality players to the league. For Xuân Son, he will need to prove himself upon his return if he wants to remain in the top 10 most valuable V-League players in the future.
Currently, Xuân Son is following a proper rehabilitation program. The decision not to rush his comeback is also to avoid potential complications after recovery. Hopefully, when he returns in the second phase of the 2025/2026 V-League, Xuân Son can quickly regain his peak form.
Nam Dinh Club has prepared for Xuân Son’s absence by proactively adding quality forwards. Besides Brenner, who performed well last season, the team at Thien Truong Stadium recently signed Kyle Hudlin, Percy Tau, and others to compete this season.
