Nguyễn Xuân Son of Nam Định FC recently fell to the 9th position in the ranking of the 10 highest-valued players in the V.League 2025/26, based on the newest data from Transfermarkt.
The forward born in 1997 is currently valued at 650 thousand Euros, down by 50 thousand Euros due to a long-term injury break.
Before having to leave the pitch, Xuân Son made a strong impression with 7 goals in 7 matches during the 2024/25 season, confirming his role as Nam Định's leading striker and a major hope for the Vietnam national team.
Despite the decrease in value, Xuân Son continues to earn Nam Định's trust with a long-term contract extension until 2031. Among the top 10 most valuable players in the V.League right now, Nam Định contributes five names. Notably, Percy Tau and Matheus Felipe (CA TP.HCM) share the top spot with a valuation of 1 million Euros each.
Following them are Njabulo Blom (Nam Định, 950 thousand Euros), Willian Maranhao (Hanoi, 900 thousand Euros), and Raphael Utzig (CA TP.HCM, 850 thousand Euros).
Transfermarkt values the entire Nam Định squad at 10.64 million Euros, a figure nearly equal to the combined total worth of five clubs—PVF-CAND, HAGL, Da Nang, SLNA, and Ha Tinh—which is 10.79 million Euros.
The difference lies in Nam Định's recruitment of many quality foreign players, such as Percy Tau and Njabulo Blom, with Blom alone valued higher than the entire PVF-CAND squad.
Compared to traditional clubs like SLNA (2.74 million Euros), Ha Tinh (2.8 million Euros), or Da Nang (2.58 million Euros), the gap in team values highlights Nam Định's financial strength and ambition.
Nam Định has made significant investments to compete in four tournaments this season, including two international competitions. However, their on-field results have yet to meet expectations.
On September 22, Nam Định lost 0-2 to Ninh Binh, dropping to 7th place in the V.League 2025/26 standings. Previously, coach Vũ Hồng Việt's team also suffered a 2-3 defeat against Hanoi Police in the National Super Cup match.
With the highest-valued squad in the V.League, Nam Định faces pressure to quickly prove their capabilities and avoid being labeled as merely a “paper giant” in this highly ambitious season.
