Barcelona legend and Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets has officially confirmed he will retire at the end of this season.
After helping Inter Miami qualify for the MLS playoffs, the Spanish midfielder is preparing for the final matches of his distinguished career.
Busquets will conclude a brilliant career filled with numerous titles: World Cup and EURO championships with Spain, 9 La Liga titles, 3 Champions League trophies, and 7 Copa del Rey cups.
At 37, he came through Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy and spent 18 years playing for the Catalan club before moving to MLS in 2023 to join former teammates Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suárez.

Busquets’ career is closely tied to Pep Guardiola’s coaching breakthrough. He became an essential part of the tiki-taka style that helped Barcelona dominate European football for many years. On Instagram, Busquets shared his retirement decision: "I feel it is time to say farewell to my professional playing career. Nearly 20 years have been a magical story I always dreamed of. I sincerely thank everyone and football for everything. You will always be a part of this beautiful story."
Inter Miami also released a tribute statement: "Since joining the club in 2023, Busquets has been crucial to the team’s growth, bringing vision, midfield quality, experience, and leadership.
