Brazilian coach continuously wins championships in Vietnam

Coach Cristiano Roland continues to lead Hanoi U17 to successfully defend the National U17 Championship title.

Overcoming U17 Thep Xanh Nam Dinh with a 3-2 score after an exciting back-and-forth in the final held on the afternoon of June 29 at Ba Ria stadium, Hanoi U17 under Coach Cristiano Roland’s guidance claimed the National U17 Championship – Thai Son Nam Cup 2025, successfully defending their title.

Hanoi U17 started with full confidence, pressing the opponent from the very first minutes. Within 15 minutes, goalkeeper Quang Truong’s goal was repeatedly threatened with at least four dangerous chances. However, the forwards’ lack of finishing prevented any goals from being scored.

Despite being on the back foot, U17 Thep Xanh Nam Dinh unexpectedly opened the scoring in the 18th minute. From a quick attack on the right wing, the ball rebounded after an attempt to block by Hanoi U17’s defender, and Viet Anh quickly fired a sharp low shot to break the deadlock.

The conceded goal intensified Hanoi U17’s pressure. In the 34th minute, Hoang Phuc fouled Manh Duc inside the penalty area, earning a penalty for the defending champions. From the spot, Manh Quan converted precisely to equalize 1-1. Later, although Manh Quan’s shot hit the crossbar in the 43rd minute, Gia Huy took advantage of an opponent’s clearance error during injury time of the first half to increase the score to 2-1.

The drama escalated early in the second half. In the 49th minute, Hong Anh broke through from a long pass by a teammate and decisively scored to level the score at 2-2 for U17 Thep Xanh Nam Dinh. But only eight minutes later, Hanoi regained the lead. Goalkeeper Quang Truong failed to catch Nguyen Luc’s shot, allowing Manh Quan to follow up and complete his brace, putting Hanoi ahead 3-2.

In the remaining time, Hanoi took control of the game, playing tightly to maintain their advantage. U17 Thep Xanh Nam Dinh tried to attack but could not make a difference. In the end, Hanoi won 3-2 and claimed the championship for the second consecutive time. This is also Coach Cristiano Roland’s second straight National U17 title. The Brazilian strategist is truly talented in leading Hanoi’s youth teams.
