Bryan Mbeumo is rapidly settling in at Manchester United and has expressed particular admiration for Ruben Amorim’s lively and enthusiastic coaching style.
Bryan Mbeumo is off to a promising start with Manchester United and is quickly integrating under coach Ruben Amorim. The French forward believes the Portuguese manager’s training sessions are both enjoyable and intense, which could help the Red Devils reclaim their top status in English football.
The £71 million signing from Brentford immediately made an impact at Old Trafford. He scored 2 goals and earned the Player of the Month award for August, confirming his key role in Amorim’s squad. This weekend’s match against Brentford will be Mbeumo’s first encounter with his former club and a chance for Amorim to aim for back-to-back Premier League wins.
When comparing Amorim to former coach Thomas Frank, Mbeumo shared: "Very good. I see some similarities between them. He always tries to make training enjoyable, and I think that’s very important – bringing joy to football – because it makes life easier. The sessions are very intense. He wants us to give our all, and that only helps us be more prepared on the pitch. I like that."
Beyond the technical side, Mbeumo emphasized the importance of daily progress: "It’s crucial to improve and get better every day. The whole team has to work hard to achieve better results. We understand the current difficulties, but as long as we stay united, we will overcome them. My teammates welcomed me immediately, helping me adjust quickly. Changing clubs and cities always takes time, but everyone has supported me a lot."
The 25-year-old also expressed satisfaction with his new environment: "When arriving somewhere new, I don’t like too much noise or showing off, but I easily blend in with people and now I’m used to it. This is a big club, everything here is great, and I’m truly happy."
Additionally, he praised the atmosphere at the Carrington training center: "The teammates, coaching staff, and everyone at Carrington are amazing, making you want to come here and work every day."
Having joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019, Mbeumo faced several challenges adapting to a new culture: "The culture here is very different, and so is the food. Language was also a challenge, even though I knew a little English. But the most unusual thing was the food. The oatmeal here is strange; I had never eaten it before. Do I eat it every morning now? No."
Comparing English and French football, he added: "Ligue 2 is more tactical compared to the Championship. But the Championship is more physical and intense. English football is generally like that. In the Premier League, matches are even more intense than in France."
