Vietnamese prodigy who scored twice against Dortmund honored

Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc received the Best Player award at the 2025 National U17 Championship Finals.

On the afternoon of September 26 at Ba Ria stadium, the final round of the 2025 National U17 Football Championship – Thai Son Nam Cup concluded with an intense final between U17 Hanoi and U17 Thep Xanh Nam Dinh. After an exciting back-and-forth match, the capital’s youth team won 3-2 to successfully defend their title, extending their impressive streak in the U17 category.

At the end of the tournament, U17 Hanoi claimed the championship, U17 Thep Xanh Nam Dinh finished as runner-up, while U17 SHB Da Nang and U17 The Cong Viettel shared third place. The Fair Play award was given to U17 SHB Da Nang. Individual honors also recognized outstanding players:

Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc was named the best player

Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc (Hanoi) was voted Most Valuable Player, Tran Manh Quan (Hanoi) became the top scorer with 7 goals, and goalkeeper Chu Ba Huan (Hanoi) received the Best Goalkeeper award.

The midfielder born in 2009 has consistently been the standout player at Hanoi’s youth levels. In 2023, wearing the U16 Hanoi jersey at the Hooray Cup friendly tournament in China, he impressed with a brace in a 2-3 loss against U16 Dortmund in the match for fifth place.

The 2009-born midfielder is still eligible to participate in the 2026 U17 Asian Championship finals

Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc (Hanoi) continued to show excellent performance after returning from the 2025 U17 Asian Championship finals campaign. The 2009-born midfielder was one of the top players for U17 Vietnam in that tournament, though unfortunately, the team could not advance past the group stage to secure a World Cup spot.

Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc is one of two players from the 2025 U17 Vietnam squad still eligible to compete in the 2026 U17 Asian Championship finals and vie for a World Cup berth. Starting from 2025, the U17 World Cup finals will be held annually in Qatar (host from 2025 to 2029). Simply advancing past the group stage of the Asian finals guarantees a World Cup place.
