Cristiano Ronaldo keeps impressing in the Saudi Pro League, having just missed a remarkable chance but also scoring a beautiful header, raising his career goal tally to 947.
Cristiano Ronaldo left fans rubbing their eyes in disbelief during the big match between Al Nassr and Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, held early morning on September 27 (Vietnam time).
In the 57th minute, the 40-year-old striker stood in front of an empty net with the goalkeeper out of position, yet he shot over the bar in a situation that seemed easier to score than to miss. Fortunately, this mistake did not affect the outcome as Al Nassr still won 2-0.
Earlier, Ronaldo had already made an impact with a classy header, increasing his career goals to 947.
The Portuguese legend rose high to deliver a precise header from a perfectly placed pass by Sadio Mané inside the box, doubling Al Nassr’s lead after Mané had opened the scoring. This was Ronaldo's third goal in just three matches this season, resulting from a smart movement that left the opposing goalkeeper helpless, and it also highlighted the growing chemistry between the former Liverpool star and CR7.
Al Nassr has won all three opening rounds against Al Riyadh, Al Kholood, and Al-Taawoun, completely dominating the game against Al Ittihad. With this goal, Ronaldo continues his scoring streak for both club and country, now only 53 goals away from the iconic 1000-goal milestone.
After the match, Ronaldo happily wrote on his personal social media page: "This is Al Nassr, this is us."
This was also the final round before the league takes a break to make way for international fixtures, where the Saudi Arabia national team will face Indonesia and Iraq, with a spot in the 2026 World Cup at stake.
