Coach Ruben Amorim has reached an unfortunate milestone after Man Utd's defeat to Brentford.
Man Utd continues to display poor form this season with a loss at Brentford in the 6th round of the Premier League.
For Ruben Amorim, this was his 200th match as a head coach in top-flight leagues. Notably, according to Opta statistics, after only 33 games managing Man Utd in the Premier League, the Portuguese tactician has suffered 17 defeats—three more than the total 14 losses he had in 167 matches in the Portuguese top division. This partly indicates that Amorim’s coaching performance is declining, especially at one of England’s most successful clubs.
Additionally, another statistic shows that Amorim has yet to adapt to the English football environment despite working here for nearly a year. The 40-year-old coach has still not achieved two consecutive wins in the country’s top league, a record far worse than his predecessors.
Moreover, Amorim caused Man Utd to suffer a second consecutive loss to Brentford, marking the first time in 88 years that the "Bees" have done so.
During the 90 minutes at Gtech Community Stadium, Bruno Fernandes was among the biggest disappointments for Man Utd. The "Red Devils" captain missed a penalty in the second half, becoming the player with the most missed penalties in the Premier League since his debut, with six failures.
Earlier, Brentford scored two first-half goals both by Igor Thiago. Although Benjamin Sesko’s goal seemed to revive the visitors’ hopes, Bruno’s missed penalty extinguished their chances, and Mathias Jensen later secured a 3-1 victory for Brentford.
This defeat dropped Man Utd to 12th place in the standings, while Brentford climbed to 11th.
