Coach Ruben Amorim showed displeasure with his players' display in the defeat to Brentford during the sixth matchweek of the Premier League.
Man Utd once again revealed a disappointing form early in the season with a forgettable defeat at Brentford's home ground in the sixth round of the Premier League.
After the match, Coach Ruben Amorim admitted that Man Utd failed to follow the game plan set by the coaching staff and got drawn into the style imposed by the home team throughout the game.
Speaking to TNT Sports, he stated: "Of course, we always want to win. But today, the team couldn’t control the match. Instead of imposing our own style, we got caught up in Brentford’s way of playing with one-on-one duels, second balls, and set-piece situations. Unfortunately, all the key moments went against us.
It’s hard to accept consecutive losses, but we must quickly focus on the next game."
The Portuguese strategist added: "The first goal conceded came from a long ball. We spent the whole week practicing such situations, especially set pieces. We knew Brentford would play long balls, but a single touch gave them the chance. Clearly, we must improve.
We didn’t play according to our identity. There were moments when we controlled the game, but overall, it wasn’t different enough. We need to show our own style instead of being dragged by the opponent, as today they performed better in that aspect."
When asked about the pressure following the defeat, Amorim admitted: "Every loss at this club feels heavy and painful. But right now, we have to quickly turn our attention to the next match."
Man Utd had a poor start at Gtech Community as Igor Thiago scored twice. The visitors’ hope was reignited when Benjamin Sesko headed their first goal from a close-range finish. In the second half, the "Red Devils" had a chance from a penalty, but Bruno Fernandes failed to beat goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. In the final added minutes, Mathias Jensen scored a spectacular goal to seal Brentford’s 3-1 victory.
This loss dropped Ruben Amorim’s squad to 12th place in the standings, while Brentford climbed up to 11th.
