By scoring twice against Burnley, Erling Haaland secured a spot among the top 10 greatest goal scorers in Man City's history and overtook Solskjaer as the Norwegian with the most goals in the Premier League.
Erling Haaland continues to prove his status as a “goal-scoring machine” when he scored a late brace against Burnley, placing him among the top 10 highest scorers in Manchester City's history. To date, the Norwegian striker has netted 133 goals in 153 appearances, surpassing the records of legends Billy Gillespie and Fred Tilson, who took over 230 matches to reach that tally.
This achievement is even more remarkable considering Haaland has only been with Man City since summer 2022. He immediately shattered numerous records, winning the Premier League Golden Boot two seasons in a row, including an unprecedented 36 goals in the 2022/23 season. Additionally, his total of 52 goals that season set an absolute club record.
In the Premier League, Haaland has also made a mark for Norwegian football. With 93 goals in 103 matches, he officially surpassed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become the highest-scoring Norwegian in the league’s history. At Etihad, he has scored 52 goals in just 51 games, beating Raheem Sterling’s 51 goals in 109 matches. Currently, only the legend Sergio Aguero (106 goals) has a better home record than Haaland.
The current top 10 all-time goal scorers for Man City are: Aguero (260), Eric Brook (177), Tommy Johnson (166), Colin Bell (153), Billy Meredith (152), Joe Hayes (152), Francis Lee (148), Tommy Browell (139), Erling Haaland (133), and Billy Gillespie (132). With his incredible scoring rate, Haaland is well positioned to climb further up the list if he maintains his form.
At present, Haaland tops the Premier League 2025/26 scoring charts with 8 goals from just 6 games. With this form, it’s no exaggeration to say he is on a path to rewrite history, not only for Man City but also for European football.
