Ruben Amorim: 'I am not worried about being fired'

Manchester United's loss to Brentford has put coach Ruben Amorim in a difficult position, with growing criticism from supporters and the press. Still, the Portuguese tactician maintains a composed attitude regarding the firing speculations.

Since taking charge at Old Trafford, Amorim has only achieved 9 wins in 33 Premier League matches. Notably, Man Utd has yet to secure back-to-back victories under his leadership. This inconsistency has become a hallmark for the Red Devils: after an impressive win over Chelsea last week, they collapsed weakly against Brentford.

After the match, speaking to Daily Mail, Amorim stated he is not concerned about his position: “I always feel comfortable in this job. I am not worried, because the decision is not mine. I will give my best in every minute while I am here. I am not the type to cling to my job.”

The 40-year-old coach admits the team needs improvement but affirms his confidence in the plan: “We need to play better and more consistently. Football always has its ups and downs. When you win, everything feels on track; when you lose, you have to restart and find your winning momentum again. The key is to improve match by match.”

However, Amorim’s stubbornness in sticking with the 3-4-3 formation is being heavily questioned. This system has never been effective at Old Trafford, yet he continues to defend his approach despite public pressure.

Not only the coach, but the players also show a drop in morale. New signing Matheus Cunha has not scored for Manchester United and admits the team atmosphere is very poor. The Brazilian shared: “The mood right now is terrible. Honestly, it’s very bad. Everyone wants to do more and needs to do more. We just have to get up and fight back.”

According to the schedule, Man Utd will host Sunderland at home at 9 PM on October 4 (Vietnam time), a newly promoted team currently impressing with strong form. This match is seen as a “do or die” for Amorim, as any result other than a win could end his tenure. Afterwards, the team will enter an international break, giving management time to consider replacement options.
