The Vietnam national team will again play on home ground with Nepal selecting Thong Nhat Stadium for the game on October 14th.
On the morning of September 26th, at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), a meeting was held to review and assess the preparations for the match between Vietnam and Nepal national teams (7:30 PM, October 14, 2025), part of the final round of Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers.
Attending and co-chairing the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Van Phu – General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, and Mr. Nguyen Dang Khanh – Head of the Sports Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports. Also present were representatives from Security, Thong Nhat Sports Center, the Federation’s General Secretariat, and other functional departments.
At the meeting, representatives from the Federation’s functional departments reported on matters related to organizing the two events. Representatives from Security, Medical, and the stadium in Ho Chi Minh City also presented related issues to coordinate and implement with the Vietnam Football Federation.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Khanh – Head of Sports Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, stated that the local organizing committee will cooperate fully with the Vietnam Football Federation to ensure the match’s success. According to the plan, early October, the Vietnam team will gather to prepare for two matches against Nepal at 7:30 PM on October 9 at Go Dau Stadium, Thu Dau Mot – Ho Chi Minh City and at 7:30 PM on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the official announcement from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Nepal national team has selected Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) as their home venue for the second leg against Vietnam in the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The match will take place on October 14, 2025.
According to the issued schedule, the first leg between the two teams will be held at Binh Duong Stadium on October 9, 2025. Therefore, the Vietnam team will not have to travel to Nepal but will play both matches in October on Vietnamese soil. This is considered an advantage in terms of travel, fitness, and preparation for Coach Kim Sang Sik’s squad.
To prepare for these crucial two legs, the Vietnam national team is expected to assemble in early October. Recently, the team also had a training camp in September 2025 to review the squad, strengthen tactics, and build team cohesion.
