Shining brightly at Barca, Rashford sends a message to MU and Amorim

Forward Marcus Rashford keeps showcasing an outstanding display at Barcelona amid the struggles of his parent club Man Utd.

While Man Utd and coach Ruben Amorim keep sinking into defeats in the Premier League, Marcus Rashford, loaned from Man Utd, is having a promising start in Spain.

At the Olympic Lluis Companys Stadium, Rashford played a key role in helping Barcelona come from behind to beat Real Sociedad. The visitors took the lead in the 31st minute thanks to Alvaro Odriozola’s goal, but shortly before halftime, the English forward made his mark. From a corner kick, he delivered a precise pass for Jules Kounde to head the equalizer.

In the second half, young talent Lamine Yamal continued to shine by assisting Robert Lewandowski’s goal, securing Barcelona’s victory and lifting them to the top of La Liga, one point ahead of Real Madrid.

This was Rashford’s third assist this season, bringing his total direct involvement in goals to five. So far, the 1997-born star is leading Barca’s contributions alongside Ferran Torres and Raphinha across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Man Utd’s new attack featuring Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko has only contributed to three goals in total. Sesko just scored his first goal for the "Red Devils" in the loss to Brentford, while Amorim’s squad still struggles with an average scoring rate below one goal per match.

After the win with Barca, Rashford shared on Instagram: “3 extremely important points! Let’s keep pushing forward.” This post immediately received likes from Tyrell Malacia, a former teammate at Man Utd, as well as striker Joshua Zirkzee. Donny van de Beek, currently playing for Girona in La Liga, also showed support.

Coach Hansi Flick later praised the team’s thorough preparation for set pieces, a factor that directly led to the goal assisted by Rashford: “We practice set pieces a lot and it has truly become a strength. I’m very pleased to see it paying off.”

Following the win against Sociedad, Rashford and his teammates will focus on hosting PSG, the current Champions League holders, in the second match of the group stage.
