Xavi is ready to take charge of Manchester United immediately

Xavi Hernandez is keeping a close eye on the Premier League and is willing to step in as Manchester United’s manager immediately, as Ruben Amorim deals with significant pressure after a series of disappointing results for the Red Devils.

Manchester United started the season disappointingly, winning only 2 of their first 7 matches. The recent 1-3 defeat to Brentford has dropped them to 14th place in the Premier League standings. Under Ruben Amorim, the team has accumulated only 34 points from 33 matches, a record that has frustrated fans and drawn public criticism from former English stars like Alan Shearer, Joe Cole, and Micah Richards.

While the pressure mounts, rumors about Amorim’s replacement have begun to surface. Names such as Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner, and Andoni Iraola have been mentioned. Notably, Xavi Hernandez — Barcelona legend and former coach — is emerging as a strong potential candidate.

“There are three managers under consideration for Man Utd, including Xavi Hernandez”, Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel. “I can assure you that Xavi is very interested in the Premier League. He is studying English football and would immediately accept the opportunity if offered, even though Man Utd are not competing in European competitions.”.

Xavi led Barcelona to the La Liga title in the 2022-2023 season during his three-year tenure, making a mark with his possession-based style and tactical discipline. However, his limitation is the lack of coaching or playing experience in England. Currently, besides being linked to Man Utd, he is also rumored to be a target for Al-Ittihad after they dismissed Laurent Blanc.

On the Manchester United side, according to BBC Sport, there remains strong backing for Amorim. Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, who oversees the football operations, believes the Portuguese coach deserves a full season to prove his capabilities.

“I never worry about the job. I’m not that kind of person. The decision is not mine; I can only give my best every day.”, Amorim calmly stated after the loss to Brentford.

However, patience from the top management cannot stop the growing wave of criticism. Man Utd have not won two consecutive Premier League matches since the 2023/24 season began. Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation is considered too rigid, while the defense frequently makes individual errors. Pressure will intensify as Man Utd face Sunderland this weekend — a team currently soaring near the top of the table.

The current situation has made Amorim’s future a hot topic. If results do not improve, a switch to a new manager like Xavi Hernandez seems inevitable. With his ambition and reputation, Xavi is seen as a bold but risky choice for the rebuilding process at Old Trafford.
