Coach Popov mentioned that striker Damian Vu Thanh An has not trained as well as the other players, which is why he has not been registered to play recently in the V-League.
Coach Popov and The Cong - Viettel continue to maintain their strong form this season, with the team currently on a 5-match unbeaten streak and recently securing a 2-0 victory over Ha Tinh.
After the match, Coach Popov stated that the team's performance improved because the new players adapted quickly. However, the entire squad still needs further improvement.
"The team is playing well at the moment because new players like Van Viet, Dinh Xuan Tien, Dinh Viet Tu, Colonna, and Lucao have integrated effectively. Nevertheless, Viettel still needs to improve, especially by increasing competition within the squad. We will reach an even higher level as training sessions become more challenging than actual matches."
Notably, in the match against Ha Tinh, the Polish-Vietnamese player Damian Vu Thanh An was not registered to play. Coach Popov explained that Damian has not performed as well in training compared to his teammates.
"We have about 30 players, but only 20 names can be included in the roster, so those who perform well get registered. However, this does not mean Damian is training poorly; he just needs more time to adapt. Other players have trained better and thus have the opportunity. I must be fair to everyone. Those not playing must work harder."
During the match between The Cong Viettel Club and Ho Chi Minh City Police on August 22, Polish-Vietnamese player Damian Vu Thanh An made a sensation by scoring a goal in his first appearance for the soldier's team. However, since then, Damian has not made any further notable impact.
Damian Vu Thanh An was born in 2003 in Poland to a Vietnamese father and a Polish mother. He began his career at Olimpia Grudziądz in the Betclic Second Division, making 21 appearances. Last season, he was loaned to Stal Brzeg. After the season ended, he decided to leave Poland and move to Vietnam to continue his football career.
