The promotion hopefuls in the First Division have started to accelerate following the initial two matches of the 2025/2026 season.
Ho Chi Minh City Club surprisingly leads the standings after round 2 of the Sao Vang Beer National First Division concluded. However, the top contenders have also begun to find their winning rhythm, signaling a thrilling race at the top of the table in the upcoming stages...
All three leading championship contenders secured victories in the recent round 2, with tense wins. Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club won 1-0 against Van Hien University Club. Bac Ninh Club defeated Khatoco Khanh Hoa Club 1-0.
Quang Ninh Club overcame Quy Nhon United Club with a 2-1 score. These wins from the contenders indicate an exciting competition ahead as their winning streaks have returned after a less favorable round 1.
However, the team currently topping the standings after round 2 is Ho Chi Minh City Club. After successfully decoding PVF-CAND Youth Club, coach Minh Phuong’s squad temporarily leads the table with 4 points, tied with Truong Tuoi Dong Nai and Bac Ninh Clubs. Ho Chi Minh City impressed from the very first round by drawing 2-2 with Truong Tuoi Dong Nai at Binh Phuoc Stadium.
Quy Nhon United Club – which played in V.League 1 last season – has yet to secure its first win. After two rounds, with only one point, the team is in the lower group alongside Dong Thap Club and Van Hien University Club. However, the current gap between the bottom and top groups is just equivalent to one win, so standings can change quickly after each round.
The 2025/2026 National First Division is proving to be captivating due to the strong competition from all participating clubs. The championship contenders face tough challenges from the youthful energy and relentless spirit of other teams, as clearly demonstrated. After Truong Tuoi Dong Nai’s win over Van Hien University, coach Nguyen Viet Thang commented: “This year’s National First Division is very exciting; every match is challenging. The recent performances of the clubs have clearly shown that.”
