Dembele sets an unprecedented record at the Ballon d'Or

Ousmane Dembele has shown outstanding superiority in the competition for the 2025 Ballon d'Or award.

Following Ousmane Dembele's victory at the 2025 Ballon d'Or, France Football, the prestigious organizer of this event, revealed the voting results for this esteemed award. The outcome was that Dembele not only distanced himself significantly from Lamine Yamal but also set a record never seen before.

Specifically, according to the report from France Football, Dembele became the player who received the highest number of votes across all continents, a feat never achieved in the history of the Ballon d'Or competition.

The star born in 1997 surpassed other strong candidates such as Lamine Yamal, Mohamed Salah, Vitinha, and Achraf Hakimi, securing full confidence from voters across different continents.

What is particularly striking is that Dembele earned 73 first-place votes out of 100 jurors, while Yamal only received 11. This clearly highlights the PSG star's dominance in the eyes of experts, turning what was expected to be a tight competition into an almost exclusive showcase for him.

According to the rules, 100 journalists representing the top 100 FIFA-ranked countries participate in voting for the Ballon d'Or.

Since 2022, there has been a significant change in the evaluation process: instead of considering achievements over the calendar year, the assessment now follows the season timeline, from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.

During this period, Dembele delivered an explosive performance, consistently making an impact across all competitions. In just 53 matches, the 1997-born forward scored 37 goals and provided 16 assists, demonstrating his vital role in PSG's historic treble pursuit, including their first-ever Champions League title.

On the national team front, Dembele continued to play a key role under coach Didier Deschamps, significantly contributing to France's advancement to the UEFA Nations League semifinals and finishing third in the tournament.
