Inter Milan - Slavia Prague: 'Inter Chivu' starts running smoothly

The series of three straight victories is clear evidence that Cristian Chivu’s Inter is beginning to find its rhythm, poised to speed up in pursuit of its goals.

Cristian Chivu is turning Inter into a fresh mechanism that is both flexible and durable. Beginning with gradual trials, he now confidently rotates half the lineup every game without losing balance. Whether in Turin, Cagliari, Amsterdam, or Milan, Inter shows up with a varied lineup, but their performance and outcomes grow steadier.

Chivu’s principle is straightforward: change to survive. Right after the transfer window closed, he made two changes against Juventus involving newcomers Akanji and Mkhitaryan. In the Champions League match versus Ajax, he increased changes to three. Against Sassuolo, he rotated four positions. At Cagliari, he didn’t hesitate to alter five players. This boldness paid off: Inter secured three consecutive wins.

Inter is aiming for a fourth consecutive victory as they return to the Champions League to face Slavia Prague. Another important test, but confidence is multiplying. The schedule favors Chivu: Inter faces manageable opponents like Union and Kairat before entering a stormy sequence against Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Dortmund. Chivu knows that full points now are valuable capital for the knockout stage.

The key difference for Inter now lies in squad depth. In the past six matches, Chivu has started 19 different players. Even Sommer’s position is not guaranteed, nor are the wings of Dumfries and Dimarco. Acerbi still holds value, while Sucic must accept rotation.

Inter is gradually finding stability.

Only the attack is somewhat different. Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez remain indispensable pillars. Thuram leads the scoring chart this season with 3 goals, while Lautaro recently surpassed Sandro Mazzola to become Inter’s fifth all-time top scorer. Encouragingly, the “supporting players” Pio Esposito and Bonny have also scored. The attacking machine runs smoothly, allowing Chivu to confidently rotate without fear of losing momentum.

Inter’s midfield is even more crowded, with Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Frattesi, Sucic, Zielinski, and Diouf. The last one has only played a few minutes, but Chivu clearly plans to give him chances soon. With seven quality midfielders competing for three spots, Inter resembles a high-speed train always packed with passengers.

Chivu is not alone on this journey. Behind him are Kolarov and Palombo, two assistants who closely observe and help with match reading and personnel management. The coaching staff’s cohesion forms a collective brain that controls the Inter machine, which is running increasingly smoothly.

Current success is just the beginning. Inter has covered 60% of the path Chivu set after the loss to Juventus. Three consecutive wins have boosted morale. If they overcome Slavia and Cremonese, Nerazzurri will enter the break perfectly equipped, ready for the tougher challenges ahead.

The Inter machine has started, and the gears mesh well. Chivu doesn’t promise flashy football but delivers smoothness and rhythm to fuel ambitions of conquering Europe.
