Should Manchester United relieve current coach Rúben Amorim of his duties, securing a replacement would not be difficult, particularly if the change is made at the end of the season, when many candidates are available. Oliver Glasner, the Crystal Palace manager popular among fans, is very willing to step into Amorim’s position.

Amorim has led the team in 33 Premier League matches, with only 9 wins and 17 losses, leading many fans and analysts to demand his firing. At present, Amorim continues to lead training sessions preparing for the next Premier League round and is expected to manage the team against Sunderland. However, if the team fails to win that home match, rumors about his dismissal will intensify during the upcoming international break.
The 51-year-old Glasner, like Amorim, employs a 3-4-3 formation but has guided his team to victories in both the FA Cup and League Cup, defeating Manchester City and Liverpool. On the English stage, Crystal Palace has demonstrated strong performance and remains the only undefeated team in the Premier League. Glasner’s side has gone 12 Premier League games unbeaten and 18 matches across all competitions without defeat. His 3-4-3 system is more balanced tactically, making it difficult for opponents to counter and ensuring defensive solidity.
Transfer expert Ben Jacobs revealed that if Manchester United extends an offer to Glasner, the 51-year-old Austrian coach would "accept without hesitation." Jacobs told the UK’s talkSPORT radio: "As far as I know, if Glasner is given the chance to manage Manchester United, he would take it in a heartbeat."

Glasner has only one season left on his contract with Crystal Palace, which means if Manchester United changes managers next summer, they could secure Glasner without paying a transfer fee. Glasner earns around £4 million annually at Crystal Palace, plus performance bonuses. For example, after winning the FA Cup last season, he received a £500,000 bonus. Nonetheless, his salary is still significantly lower than Amorim’s, who makes £6 million a year at Manchester United.
In a recent interview with Germany’s Kicker magazine, Glasner acknowledged awareness of the rumors linking him to Manchester United. Regarding how he deals with such speculation, Glasner said: "I pay attention to all these rumors, but I approach them with neutrality and calmness. I focus on daily training sessions with my players and coaching staff and try to enjoy the process of the work."
Crystal Palace currently sits third in the Premier League, but Glasner reminded everyone: "We are not focusing on the points table at the moment. I am very pragmatic and clearly remember that last season we had the worst start in the club’s history but ended up achieving record points and results. It’s only September, so nothing can be concluded yet. Last year at this time, we seemed to be the only team without a win, but by season’s end, we had a strong finish and won the FA Cup."

Glasner said that humility is the core principle he instills in his team. "We always maintain a humble attitude, cherish a positive mindset and emotions, which helps us recover energy quickly and perform better in daily work. After matches, the team discusses the performance, showing players many good moments, especially regarding mental state, but we also identify areas for improvement."
In Crystal Palace’s last Premier League game, they secured a 2-1 victory against Liverpool with a late winner. Earlier in the season, they won the Community Shield through a penalty shootout and similarly advanced past Championship side Millwall in the League Cup round of 16 via penalties. Glasner jokingly said he hopes his players take care of the coach’s health by not making things too dramatic on the pitch.
Live footage showed Glasner ecstatic after scoring the winning goal against Liverpool in the final moments. He initially rushed onto the field to celebrate with the players but suddenly turned back halfway and instead returned to the coaching bench to embrace his colleagues in celebration.

"The issue is with emotions. After our last penalty shootout win, I told the players: I’m over 50 now, so they should be more considerate and let me relax earlier," Glasner laughed. "On the other hand, that’s exactly why we love football. Creating moments like that in front of our fans, standing by the stands, feels amazing. I really wanted to run to the players, but I stopped just five yards in. I remember once I even got a yellow card for that, which cost the team, and my wife wasn’t happy either!"
