On September 30th, head coach Kim Sang Sik revealed the 24-player roster for Vietnam’s national team gathering in the fourth phase of 2025, to get ready for the two matches versus Nepal at the final stage of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers next October.
This list features seven young talents from the U23 squad who recently won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and advanced through the 2026 Asian U23 qualifiers, including Tran Trung Kien, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Phi Hoang, and Nguyen Nhat Minh. Their inclusion promises fresh energy and additional tactical options for the team.
Additionally, the team continues to maintain a core group of seasoned veterans with extensive international experience such as Do Duy Manh, Bui Tien Dung, Pham Xuan Manh, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, Cao Pentdant Quang Vinh, Nguyen Tien Linh, along with other familiar key players. Notably, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam has been recalled by coach Kim Sang Sik, while Filip Nguyen is absent from this squad.
The blend of youth and experience is expected to create depth and balance in the lineup, ensuring continuity while maintaining stability in playing style. This approach also reflects the team’s long-term strategy to build a new generation squad aimed at important future objectives.
According to the plan, the Vietnam national team will regroup on October 4th in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the two matches against Nepal. The first leg will take place at Go Dau Stadium on October 9th, while the return leg will be held at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) on October 14th, 2025.
