Coach Jurgen Klopp has openly shared his feelings regarding the Saudi Pro League amid shocking links to Al Ittihad.
Al Ittihad still has many stars in their squad such as Fabinho, N’Golo Kante, and Karim Benzema, but they recently suffered a 0-2 defeat to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in an early match that could significantly impact the title race.
Following the loss, the club posted an announcement on their X account, confirming the termination of head coach Laurent Blanc’s contract, the legendary Man Utd and Barcelona figure, along with the entire coaching staff. Immediately, the club was reportedly targeting an unexpected replacement option, which is coach Jurgen Klopp.
According to a source in Saudi Arabia, the German strategist is currently among the top candidates to succeed Blanc. However, considering his previous statements about the rise of Arab football, the likelihood of Klopp accepting is low.
Previously, Klopp emphasized that UEFA must ensure European competitions maintain their top global status against the huge appeal of the financial offers Saudi Pro League is ready to pay players.
In a statement from September 2023, Klopp said: "... This is an issue that UEFA or any authority needs to pay attention to because we all must protect football. It is not just a league, but the entire game, and I truly value my players currently playing in Saudi Arabia.
Normally, I would watch their matches, but so far, I haven’t followed any. Whether it’s watchable, I’m not sure, but that doesn’t affect my football viewing habits. We must ensure European leagues retain their inherent strength ..."
